The idea of Start With a Scribble started in 2020 during Covid. Having a background in graphic arts and sailing, I decided I should put the two skills together!

I had a sailboat silhouette sticker on my car that I enjoyed, but with time the sticker fell apart. In 2020 I was given a Cricut Explorer Air 2 as a gift and had the idea make a replacement sticker of the one I had on my car. After making the replacement sticker and shared it with one of my sailing groups it slowly started to gain attention. From there, things began evolving, I was creating custom one off stickers and art prints that matched the owners boat. 

One personal art goal I had was to have my own booth at an art festival, which I finally achieved at a small craft fair next to a marina in Branford CT. From there, I became an exhibitor at The CT Spring Boat Show and the Norwalk Boat Show. The feedback I received for my now various pieces (made by me) was to aim big, Annapolis, the sailing capital of the world. While Im constantly learning while attending shows, my work is always evolving. 

My custom and personalized boating prints are created two different ways. Some of the are created digitally on the computer, others are traditional using watercolor paints. My custom and personalized boat art works are made to match the owners boat. Since all the art is created by me, I am the owner/artist, it does take time to make. I usually give 2 week turnaround for prints and paintings, and that can vary depending on what life has going on. On top of making each piece for the boat owner, the other thing I’ve enjoyed most is chatting with the customer. Learning more about boating that I could have ever known. Some customers have had ties to the America’s Cup, various dinghy fleet regattas, boating The Great Loop, boating over seas and simply keeping local to the NY/New England area.
